Applying to OSCA



We're looking for enthusiastic, motivated and committed individuals with a passion for working with young people.


The ideal OSCA teacher would have boundless enthusiasm, be easy to get along with, a talented classroom teacher, good team player and - most importantly - really want to work with children and young people. Teachers will have key responsibilities in preparing their own lesson material pre-departure and also in helping the team plan whole camp activities.


How do we select volunteers?

We offer places on OSCA projects to the applicants who do best in our two rounds of selection.


The first round is based on the online application form. The deadline for submitting applications is the 20th of December. Due to the large number of applications we receive, we are unable to interview all candidates. We will let all applicants know whether they are invited for an interview in early January.


The second round is interview based. Interviews will take place on the weekend of the 18th and 19th of February. Candidates will be asked questions to gauge competency in lesson planning, discipline, team work and initiative.


What happens after you get a place?

All accepted applicants receive training in lesson planning and teaching techniques, as well as being given specific advice for teaching in a camp environment, in a teaching seminars held on the the 11th of March. During the six weeks of Oxbridge Easter vacation, the teachers prepare a full set of lesson plans and handouts. We offer all the help needed to volunteers providing plenty of support, feedback and suggestions on their teaching material.
